Description
In May 1931, the International Colonial Exhibition (Exposition Coloniale Internationale) opened in Paris for a six-month run. As part of the exhibition, a zoo displaying exotic animals from the French colonies was created. Its remarkable success led to the decision to make it permanent, and it still exists today.
The film opens with shots from the Paris Zoo. We see giraffes while people stand at the edge and watch them. The filmmaker continues with the flamingo birds and then stops for a moment at the little monkeys.
The filming continues with the giraffes eating and one of them observing an ostrich. Elephants bathing in a pond, antelopes, and zebras follow. The view changes to swans in the pond, while pelicans can also be seen on land.
The film closes with views of the elephants.
