Commencing our tour in the capital city of Argostoli –severely damaged in the earthquake of 1953 but now entirely rebuilt- we cross by ferry to Lixouri, then pay a visit to Metaxata, where Lord Byron once stayed for four months. We then go on an excursion to a very curious and impressive natural wonder: the collapsed cave of Melisani, with its deep blue lake and its eerie interior. Finally we call in at two pretty villages unaffected by the earthquake: Fiskardo and Assos.
