Description
Views of Santorini, or Thira, as the ship approaches the old port, Gialos.

The lens stands on the relief of the caldera. The caldera was formed by the collapse of the centre of a circular island named Strongyli which was caused by the Minoan eruption of 1613 BC. Then we see views from the picturesque town of Fira on the edge of Caldera.

The film continues with views from yachts in the port, the city of Fira and the fishing boats that come to pick up the passengers (In those years, the passengers went out to the shore with small boats). As we approach the pier, we see views of the boatman who is holding the oar in order to take control of the boat, the picturesque houses of Fira and the stone pier.

In the port, donkeys are tied up and waiting to be loaded in order to start the course upward, on the 587 cobbled steps, in a spiral-shaped staircase towards Fira. Views as tourists and locals climb the stairs, some on foot and others on donkeys.

The film closes with the sun that is disappearing behind the Palia Kammeni, probably taken from Imerovigli.
