Description
We are in Agia Sophia Cave, that is located 47km southwest of the city of Chania in Crete, on the western walls of the Topolia gorge, above the main road that leads to the area of Elafonissi.

The film opens with the filmmaker’s family in the gorge of Topolia admiring the nature. Two women sit in the shade of a tree to rest while a smiling man approaches and greets the company. The filmmaker films an elderly shepherd who has taken his goats out to graze and then a man who drinks water from a natural spring. Walking in nature continues and the lens focuses on the old shepherd who talks to the company smiling while a man gives him a cigarette.

The ascent to the cave begins and a man lights a candle in a shrine which is there. We see shots from the cave’s entrance and then the bell tower. The company enters the church of Agia (santa) Sophia, which is located inside the cave, hence its name. A woman rings the bell and the group explores the cave. We see views of the gorge as well as from Mount Agios Dikaios that is visible in the background.

The film closes with the group descending from the cave, a shot of the landscape as well as the group that has arrived and stands next to their car.
