Description
Chalkida (or Chalcis) is the main city and main port of the island of Euboea in the Region of Central Greece. It is situated on the Euripus Strait on its both sides, where part of it occupies part of Euboea and the other one has been built in Central Greece.

Two women are walking on the coastal street and behind them we see the bridge that connects the 40 meters distance of Euboea from Central Greece, it is crossed by vehicles and pedestrians. The bridge consisted of two parts that open in a rotating manner, creating a passage for tall boats.

At this point, we can see the unique phenomenon of tidal currents reverse direction once every six hours and in between (approximately) ten minutes of stagnation (tide of Euripus).

The walk of the two women continues, they stop at a point where behind them we can see the hill of Kanithos, Fourka, with the Ottoman fortress of Karababa. With a panoramic shot, we see the Asteria beach, part of the city’s building structure and the Mount Messapio or Ktypa in the background.

The sea of the Euboean Gulf is serene, boats are moored and we discern the emblematic hotel Lucy, right by the sea on the beach of Chalkida.

The women continue their walk by the sea.
