Description
Corfu is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea.

The film begins with a shot taken from a cafe in the Kanoni area, south of Corfu town. The point offers a magnificent view to the island of Vlacherna with the small monastery of Panagia Vlacherna, which is connected to the mainland by a narrow stone path. In the background the emblematic Pontikonisi, a tiny rocky island, which hosts the Byzantine church of the 11th century, the "Pantokrator", which is surrounded by dense vegetation.

Then we are on a main street of the city where shopkeepers are sitting outside their shops and consumers are walking.

Afterwards, we see a panoramic view of a part of the rocky peninsula, in which the Old Venetian Fortress of Corfu has been built.

Then we see views of the city's narrow streets paved with cobblestones (named kantoúnia) and its buildings which have been heavily influenced by various European styles which can be clearly seen in the architecture of the island. A grocery store, a woman on the balcony with her clothes spread out on the side, a cart dragged by a donkey, views from a small local market.

Then we are in the main square of the island, the Spianada, in a traditional coffee house, in the arches of the "Liston" residential complex where people sit and talk, a kiosk and a man who uses the phone, a waiter with a bow tie and views from the souvenir ​​stores of the city.

Footage of the horse-drawn carriages which are a traditional means of transportation and tour for the visitors to the verdant island.
