Description
We are in Thessaloniki, the largest and most populous city in Macedonia, Greece.

The film opens with a shot from the city’s center that has been decorated for the celebrations of October 26. It is a big double celebration for Thessaloniki, with the city celebrating its patron Saint Dimitrios but also the anniversary of its liberation, on October 26, 1912.

We see the podium which is prepared for the officials, cars of that era and a crowd of people. The filmmaker shows us a panoramic view of the Church of Saint Dimitrios as well as the countless faithful people who are there for the service (a liturgy) and the pilgrimage. The lens records Konstantinos Karamanlis, then Prime Minister of Greece, who exits the church, along with dozens of photographers on the stairs and crowds of people all around.
